How do you package your materials?+-
All our boxes are packaged with biodegradeable and recyclable corrugate -- no bubble wrap or virgin plastic anywhere in sight! They also come with a handy pull tab, so no sharp objects required. We go to great lengths with our factories and manufacturers to ensure there's no plastic involved. Please fold your boxes flat before recycling!
How do I clean it?+-
All of our products are dishwasher safe except for the Always Pan's wooden utensil -- that little guy needs to be hand-washed. For the Always Pan, while the dishwasher's always an option, it's non-stick and so easy to clean you'll rarely need to! We recommend some soapy water and a gentle sponge. Avoid anything harsh and abrasive like steel wool.
It's my first time cooking - how do I use this?+-
We're so excited you're cooking! You're gonna have a great time. The Always Pan is designed for exactly this situation. Plop it over a heat source on your stove top (they're all compatible, just no oven use please) and get to cooking! Here are a few quick tips. First, never walk away from an active stove top! Always keep an eye on things. Second, always put a little oil or other fat into the skillet while it heats up -- it's never a good idea to heat up a totally empty pan. Beyond that, the choice is yours! If a recipe calls for a sautee pan, steamer, saucier, saucepan, skillet, or fry pan -- odds are, the Always Pan's got your back.
How do I use the steamer basket?+-
You can use it a few different ways! First, simply add a little water to the Always Pan, and bring it to a simmer. Add the steamer on top (if the water comes through the holes, pour a little out), and put whatever you're steaming into the basket. Place the lid on and you're ready to steam! Please use a towel or oven mitt to balance the basket if you're lifting it up with food on it. If not, it might tip over. You can also boil pasta or veggies right in the pot. Simply keep the steamer inside, add the goodies, pour water or broth to cover, and pop the lid on! When everything is boiled and ready, it can be conveniently lifted out of the water using the steamer basket. Again, please use another (covered) hand to stabilize the basket so your food doesn't tip over.
What is the maximum temperature I can use?+-
The Always Pan is safe up to medium high heat on most stove tops. If you're looking for a more specific temperature limit we recommend cooking under 475 degrees. Please avoid oven use.
What nonstick coating do you use?+-
The Always Pan is coated in a safe, environmentally-friendly ceramic non-stick coating. No PFOA, PTFE, or other questionable materials in sight! If you want to learn more about any of our materials, just give us a shout at email@example.com.
Is the Always Pan oven safe?+-
The Always Pan is not recommended for oven use.
I accidently put my spatula in the dishwasher! What do I do?!+-
Don't panic! Just rub it down with a paper towel soaked in a little mineral oil, vegetable oil, or olive oil. It'll be good as new in no time! If you run into any issues, give us a shout at firstname.lastname@example.org

I entered the wrong shipping address? What should I do?+-
You're welcome to email us at email@example.com and we'll try to catch it before it makes it to our warehouse team. Where is my money going? Where are you donating to?+-
Great question -- for each of our collections, we find partners who are working to create systems-based change in the communities that we share. For our launch, we partnered with the Los Angeles Food Policy Council on an issue we both care a lot about: access to good food in our hometown, Los Angeles. Like LAFPC, we believe all communities deserve access to good food, grown in a way that respects people and the planet. As we continue to grow, we look forward to partnering with more organizations with thought and care. If you have an idea for a great partner for Our Place, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org! We're always working to create more seats at our table.
What are your values and mission?+-
At Our Place, we believe sharing a home-cooked meal is foundational to connection. We make products that connect people over home-cooking. Our collections are new heirlooms from the cultures and places that make up the fabric of the modern American kitchen. We believe that there is a transformative power in uplifting the differences in how people cook and eat together. Our hope is that telling stories of tradition will bring the disparate edges of our world closer together.
Are you using humane and ethical practices? Where are your products made?+-
We really appreciate you asking -- this is something we care deeply about as well. Our partners are paid fair wages with ethical work life balance and breaks. Our Always Pan, Side Bowls, and Main Plates are made by hardworking and talented people in factories in China. Our Drinking Glasses are hand-made in Thailand.
Are you hiring?+-
Yes! If you're interested in joining Our Place, you can give us a shout at email@example.com.
What does your name mean?+-
Our Place holds a lot of meaning for us. First, to us, it evokes a sense of warmth, togetherness, and love. With a founding team full of first and second generation immigrants, we've spent some real time thinking deeply about Our Place. We'll often ask our friends, partners, and colleagues -- What is Our Place? Is it Our Place to speak up? Is it Our Place to try to change things? And, finally, "Our Place" caps off our favorite sentence ever: See you at Our Place :-)
Are your products sold in stores?+-
We're currently sold online only.
What about storage? Can I leave your products in my house that gets super hot or cold?+-
Go for it! Our products are made to withstand the heat of a kitchen so the temperature of your home certainly will be OK, too.
What should I look for to know if its time to replace my current kitchenware?+-
If you're questioning "is this seasoning or the pan coating?" it's probably a great idea you're here. It's always a good idea to give your cookware a rigorous cleaning with non-abrasive scrubbers to see if that will do the trick. If you've still got residue after cleaning or some serious scratching on your cookware it may be time to update (though a few scratches is okay and very normal). If you're quite not sure or need tips and tricks for our favorite cleaning methods, let us know - we have a few tricks and tips we can share!
Do you donate? Do you recycle? What happenes to returned products?+-
We are currently sourcing partners who might be able to accept lightly used kitchenware. If you know of a partner we'd be able to work with please do reach out to us. We'd love to learn more about organizations that are important to you.
